Home. It's where real life happens. It can be a sanctuary. A place of complete comfort. Where meals are cooked and shared. Where laughter is had, and tears and tantrums too.
My time is spent mostly at home. Looking after my son, daughter and husband. Most of my creative energy goes into designing a space that accommodates our lives. A space that looks aesthetically pleasing, and one that also functions. It's a balance of stylish throw cushions that can handle sticky fingers, and baskets overflowing with blocks and plush animals. It's also my place of inspiration. Where in rare silence I can completely recharge.
Since having children I've simplified my life. From the possessions we have to the meals I place on the table. I've come to value minimalism. Organisation. Quality over quantity. And in turn a great respect for our home environment, which I hope to teach our children too.
My favourite part of the day is when we gather at our table to share a meal together. It's a time when conversation is had. Where we reflect on those moments of our day and share them with one another. And an opportunity to teach our children about appreciation for good wholesome food. To encourage a healthy relationship with food rather than one of fear.
In essence this space is a reflection of our home. A home with an atmosphere which I take great pride in creating for my family, and those we welcome into it. It's far from perfect. But then, what is perfect anyway? Perfectly imperfect is what I strive for these days.
More than anything I hope that I leave our children with fond memories. Where wafts of risotto cooking on the stove lingers in their minds, where they remember laughter and positive energy, along with a faint recollection of how their rooms felt as they drifted off to sleep at night.
I welcome you in for a little glimpse. And hope to inspire you to create a home with atmosphere and comfort for yourself and your loved ones.
Thanks for stopping by.
